“If I Study, The Country Studies” Objective:
To enable girls and women aged 14 to 29 who had discontinued their studies to prepare and pass the matriculation examination and develop skills for economic self-reliance.
Description:
Operating 60 Pragati Camps across Jamui, Khaira, Gidhaur, and Jhajha blocks, this programme provides academic preparation aligned with Bihar’s Board (BBOSE) curriculum, while promoting confidence and life skills, including awareness about governmental schemes.
Key Challenges:
- The lack of safety assurance and social restrictions limit mobility and access to education for women.
- Societal norms and fears around girls’ education perpetuate early dropout and early
- Families often prohibit girls from leaving home for fear of harassment or
- Treating the daughter as a liability that has yet to be handed over to someone else and restricting her freedom to move out of the house.
Key Activities:
- Academic coaching geared toward matriculation exams.

- Life skills and leadership
- To impart skills alongside education, enabling individuals to become self-reliant.
- Facilitation of information sessions on government educational and welfare
Key Achievements:
- Currently, 60 Pragati camps are actively operating at the village
- A total of 1,217 girls and women are preparing for the matriculation
- These 1,217 girls and women have successfully registered with the Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE).
- Through daily sessions at the free Pragati camps, these participants have developed strong leadership skills and various other competencies.
- Many of these empowered girls and women have begun conducting educational activities by teaching children within their own communities and serve as educators and community advocates.
