Objective:

To assist child victims of sexual abuse in navigating judicial processes and foster widespread awareness of protection laws.

Description:

The organization works to protect children against sexual abuse in the districts of Jamui, Munger, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, and Banka in Bihar. The program sensitizes communities, schools, and families on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and supports survivors legally and psychosocially.

Key Challenges:

  • Children continue to face threats of exploitation both at home and in the
  • Awareness about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act is extremely low.
  • Families often remain silent even after incidents
  • Every 15 minutes, a child becomes a victim of sexual abuse, but only 3% of cases are formally reported.
  • The dreams and aspirations of victims remain confined within their homes due to fear and stigma.

Key Activities:

  • Prevent child sexual abuse (CSA) by creating awareness about CSA and POCSO at the community and school levels.
  • Educate children and the community on how to respond and proceed with judicial processes if an incident occurs.
  • Support CSA victims through the judicial process with the cooperation of government officials.

Key Achievements:

  • Support extended to 52 girls who were victims of sexual abuse, including 3 who received government compensation for living and food.
  • Ensured legal action against 35 perpetrators following legal
  • Supported 3 girls in safe institutional deliveries after incidents of
  • Raised awareness about CSA among 25,000 people over the last three years, leading to a reduction in incidents, increased reporting, and empowered parents and victims to access the court system.
